I recently lost all of my music and didn’t have it backed up. Are torrents the best way to download music? I’ve never used torrents before. What are the best music sites for torrents? If you don’t advise using torrents, what else is there? Limewire?

My advice to you is to not look for free downloads, eventually you’ll get a virus from one of them. I use http://www.legal5ounds.com – every song is only 9ยข and they have a massive library. There’s no chance of a virus either!

Torrents? Limewire? Don’t use that stuff! See the risks of file-sharing technology at http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/tips/ST05-007.html
Instead, look at http://searchformusic.eu.pn/
It searches many free, safe, legal downloading-music sites (for whole albums, add the word "rapidshare"). This way you can forget about viruses.
