Andy Simon: Music
Always Sounds The Same (from the album "Glimpse")
(Andy Simon)
I spent most of today inside my head,
I spent most of tonight inside my bed,
The phone kept still like something dead.
And yesterday’s story always sounds the same.
I’d like to tell you something new.
But it’s hard to translate what I do.
As most things tried are rarely true
Subtle shifts always sounds the same.
I’m not avoiding anyone
I’m not even avoiding what I know must get done.
And occasionally I’m even having fun.
And each excuse always sounds the same.
I get underwhelmed by information.
I get overwhelmed by bland creations.
I’m interested in some new sensations.
When money talks it always sounds the same.
Always sounds the, always sounds the same.
I tend to admire who I think might know.
And I get inspired when I watch you grow.
But consensus says this can’t be so
so CNN always sounds the same.
My life’s a book filled with revisions.
Edited by each decision.
Bookmarked by expanded visions.
And yet the footnotes always sounds the same.
I’m trying hard to stay connected.
It’s hard when everything’s dissected.
As if the Truth can be injected.
And expectations always sounds the same.
It seems to me that in the end
the hard, fast rules will feel the bend
of arguments it can’t defend.
And Absolutes always sounds the same.
Always sounds the, always sounds the same.
