How can I rearrange pop music for the piano?

I’m going to be competing in a singing competition at school. I will be singing Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John and I am accompanying myself on piano. The piano music I have for it is too simple and repetitive for me. So, I was wondering how I could add in a couple of fancy piano techniques to make it sound better. Like some cool arpeggios or whatever. Add as much detail as you can. Thank You :)

I get my inspiration from many years of choir. I sang tenor, so I’m used to doing counter-melodies and such. I will hum along with the radio like that, not the melody, and not intentionally, it just happens. This is where I get a lot of my arrangement ideas. Try alternating counter-melodies with harmonies on the right hand. Throw some blues-styled bass in with the left hand. Syncopation and a moving bass line are always cool.
