How to read sheet music better and faster?

I can read sheet music, you know, all the basics and stuff. I know FACE and ACEG , and I can read the notes. It just takes me a few minutes to get down something that should take less time. What are some ways I can read sheet music faster and better? Are there any practice sheet music or websites to help? Printable sheets? Anything to help me read and play sheet music better and faster.

If your learning to read guitar sheet music then you could always use tabs. tabs use numbers of the frets you want to hit on the matching strings. then you can figure were to put your finger faster because counting numbers is always easier than counting letters by 7 at a time. there’s not much else to it besides doing each line once or twice and then you eventually get it. you can find tabs for any kind of song you want by checking google. some good websites were you can find guitar tabs are:

ultimateguitar.com
guitartab.com
911tabs.com
guitartabs.cc

all of these websites have almost every genre of music you can think of but they only show rock and punk rock on the front page.

The only way to improve sight-reading is to practice, practice, practice. If you’ve had formal lessons, you have the basics of sight-reading down. If not, it’s not that hard to pick up. It’s just getting that practice in.

I can sight-read somewhat, but if it’s a song I don’t know, I can’t play it at all, because I’ve never had formal lessons. If it’s a song I know by heart, I can go along with the sheet music and sort of B.S. my way through the more difficult passages. I mostly play by ear, though, so it’s not really an issue. Some people can sight-read well, and some people can’t, and I’m just in the latter category. But as a trade-off, I can arrange and (to my ear) improve the songs I do know. I like the freedom of that creativity, not being chained to what the music dictates. : )
